Dress Code

Dress Code

Has a wedding invite ever left you clueless about what to wear? And more importantly, what not to wear? Well fear not dear readers, for after extensive discussions with wedding planners and bridesmaids, and many hours spent combing through ancient tomes of wedding wisdom, we’ve worked out that…you guessed it. It really isn’t that complicated! It’s all about understanding the dress code specified by the Bride & Groom on their invite. Or in our case, on our wedding website!

There are as many different types of wedding dress codes as there are types of weddings. From ‘Casual Attire’ to ‘Cocktail Attire’, from ‘Black Tie’ to ‘Beach Formal’, from ‘White Tie’ to ‘Clothes Optional’ (hey, that’s a real thing!), the list is endless. But in most cases the dress code for the wedding is predicated on the type of venue the wedding and reception are being held at. So, in keeping with this tradition, the dress code for our wedding is ‘Evening Attire’.

But what exactly is, ‘Evening Attire’ we hear you ask! It’s a fair question, because it’s not ‘Black Tie’ (so no need rent a tux, a waistcoat or a bow tie) and it’s not ‘Cocktail Attire’ (so no need to dust off that super short dress you can barely sit down in!). If you were to describe the ‘Evening Attire’ wedding dress code in one word, it would be ‘Sophisticated’ or ‘Elegant’. With long, flowing evening dresses being the norm for the ladies, and a crisp two-piece suit and tie ensemble being the norm for the gentlemen.

Please see a few additional bullet points below which should help clarify things:

Dress Code for the Ladies

For the ladies it is requested that you wear evening dresses (or equivalent). With hats optional, but strongly encouraged!

Dress Code for the Gentlemen

For the men it is requested that you wear a two-piece suit and tie ensemble with optional pocket square.

What Not to Wear

The standard rules of being well-dressed for a wedding naturally apply (see above). With an additional note for the ladies of: please don’t wear white or off-white dresses so as not to clash with the bride.

The Colour Theme of the Wedding

The colour theme of the wedding is ‘Chelsea Blue’, as this is both Logan and Kristi’s favourite colour. So feel free to accessorise your outfit with a little something Chelsea blue if you’re inclined to do so, to join in the colour thematic of the wedding. This could mean having a Chelsea blue pocket square, some earrings, a handbag, a ring, or whatever works with what you’re wearing.

Whatever the Weather!

Please note that spring in Tasmania is traditionally cooler than Sydney, so it’ll pay to pack some warmer clothes in case the weather is a little nippy. Not that anyone is expecting it to be, as the bride and groom have booked the ‘Lovely Weather Wedding Package’ and thus expect the whole day to turn out rather splendidly!

Average spring temperatures in Richmond range from a high of about 15 degrees centigrade, to lows of as little as 7 degrees centigrade. And given the beautiful Glen Albyn Estate reception venue has huge outdoor decks with panoramic views of the Derwent river and a million stars, you’ll likely want to pop outside for some fresh air in between speeches and boogies on the dance floor. Just make sure you’ve brought your coat so you can slip it on when you do.
